If design feels subjective on your team, chances are, you're presenting design guesses instead of design decisions. You need an evidence-gathering design process to make great design decisions.
"Gathering evidence takes time and energy" you absolutely hate to hear it! But I agree, and was excited to share this with folks. I feel like a share of designer suffering comes from feeling / knowing that they have good reasons for their decisions but not having a clear, crisp articulations of those reasons at the ready (+ I think we all have some fear that we do not, in fact, know what we're doing!).
